At the end of August 2021, Google announced that has changed how they generate the page titles for search result listings. In some cases, the
SERP title link
and the
URL title tag
are different as Google no longer takes the text from the pages' title meta tag.
To help our users to keep up with this change and see which titles Google actually uses, we released a feature that automatically detects both the SERP title link and the URL title tag. You can compare the titles shown in SERPs with the ones added in your meta tags to see whether the title information is different and what is the difference.
The title tag differences are detected not just for Google but also for other major search engines available for tracking in AWR, such as Yahoo, Bing, YouTube, or Amazon.
You can check the title tag differences using the:
Top Sites report
In the Top Sites report the title information is displayed by default.
