As we wanted to make it as easy as possible for our users to understand how solid their business's presence in SERP is and how they stand against competitors, the table in the Market Share report has been split into 2 views - one containing metrics focused on
top 20 domains
' overall performance in terms of visibility, while the second one focuses on
keywords
, as follows:
1)
Top Domains view
When accessing the Market Share report, the Top Domains table view is displayed by default and it shows
overall visibility metrics
calculated for the
Top 20 domains
appearing in the SERPs retrieved by AWR for the set of keywords being monitored.

This table view also shows the
dropped
vs.
newly entered
competitors in the Top 20, by Market Share, when comparing 2 project updates. The main website of the project is now highlighted with a yellow row if found among the 20 best performing websites.

2)
Target Keywords view
This table view shows how many Top 20 ranking keywords each domain has from the total number of terms being tracked and how the main website competes in terms of unique/common keywords with the websites having better visibility.
Along with the split, a new metric was introduced -
Total Searches
- which represents the total search volume calculated for all keywords ranking in the Top 20 for each domain.
With the help of the total search volume metric it is easier to spot competitors that enjoy a better Market Share value due to highly searched terms vs. the ones that are dominating the SERPs as they rank for the majority of keywords your are targeting.
